舞踏家　振付家　今貂子舞踏研究所/舞踏カンパニー倚羅座主宰
’80年白虎社創立に参加。海外及び国内公演に出演、また、衣裳デザイン製作を担当。‘94年解散により、独立。’99年舞踏ワークショップ開始。２０00年ワークショップを母胎に舞踏カンパニー倚羅座結成。’05　年、ヨーロッパ公演ツアー（スペイン、フランス、ドイツ）、各地で成功をおさめる。’07⁻’16年旧五條楽園歌舞練場にて連続公演。’16年-‘20年KYOTO舞踏館「秘色」ロングラン上演。‘19年還暦記念「闇の艶」公演（先斗町歌舞練場）。’20年今貂子舞踏公演「金剛石-Diamond-」公演（UrBANGUILD）にて、令和2年度文化庁芸術祭優秀賞受賞。以降’21年「愛ノ嵐」、’22年「彗星」を上演しコロナ三部作として結実。‘23年倚羅座舞踏公演「瑠璃坏るりのつき」、‘24年倚羅座舞踏公演「真珠と斧」開催。’2１年より、「おんなのぼくしさん」-飯名尚人・今貂子共同作品-に取り組む。
日本の芸能の源流にみられる「たまふり（命の活性化）」の力に支えられたアバンギャルドな舞踏の探求を通じ、独自の境地を開拓。

Ima Tenko
 Butoh dancer, Choreographer
Artistic director of Butoh Company KIRAZA and Director of Ima Tenko Butoh Studio
In 1980, she participated in the founding of the Butoh group Byakkosha, In the 1980s, she performed as a core member in one of the most acclaimed Butoh groups, Byakkosha, and received distinct recognitions in Japan and abroad.  She also designed and made costumes for Byakkosha.  After the dance company dissolved in 1994, she became an independent dancer. 
In 2000, she established to her own dance studio for workshops and the Butoh company Kiraza.
In 2005, her company conducted a tour of Europe, performing in Spain, France, and Germany, receiving high acclaim in each country.
From 2007 to 2016, her dance company performed at the historical Gojo Kaikan Theatre in Kyoto on a regular basis. 
In 2016, she began a long-run performance of her solo work “Hisoku” at the Kyoto Butoh Kan Theater, a specialized theater for Butoh, and welcomed audiences from 68 countries around the world until the theatre shut down in March 2020 due to Covid-19.
In 2019, she held -KANREKI anniversary-Ima Tenko Butoh Performance “YAMI NO TSUYA” at Pontocho Kaburenjo in Kyoto.
In 2020, with her Butoh Performance “Diamond” at UrBANGUILD Kyoto, she won the Award of Excellent at the 75th edition of the National Arts Festival organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Government of Japan, and is the first Butoh dancer to win this award. 
In 2021, Ima Tenko and naoto iina (filmmaker) collaborated and created the project “A female pastor”.
In 2021, she held Ima Tenko Butoh Performance “Love Tempest” at UrBANGUILD Kyoto.
In 2022, she held Ima Tenko Butoh Performance “Comet” at UrBANGUILD Kyoto, and completed “Diamond”, “Love Tempest”, and  “Comet” as the Corona Trilogy.
In 2023, her company held Kiraza Butoh Performance “Goblet of Lapiz lazuli” at UrBANGUILD Kyoto.
In 2024, her company held Kiraza Butoh Performance “Pearl and Axe” at UrBANGUILD Kyoto.

She explores and pushes the boundaries of her arts and herself in the avant-garde field of Butoh. Her arts are supported by the Shinto practice of Tamafuri, “reinvigorating the soul,” a practice seen at the heart of Japanese performing arts. As one of Japan’s leading butoh dancers, she uses Kyoto as a base to breathe new life and vigor into the field of Butoh.

舞踏カンパニー倚羅座
2000年白虎社出身の舞踏家今貂子の舞踏ワークショップを母胎に結成。2005年ヨーロッパ巡回ツアーを行い、スペイン・フランス・ドイツの各国で成功を収める。2007年-16年旧五條楽園歌舞練場にて、《妹の力》新作公演シリーズを毎年開催。2016年KYOTO舞踏館設立に協力。2020年今貂子舞踏公演『金剛石-Diamond-』-令和２年度（第75回）文化庁芸術祭参加-で、舞踏分野より初の文化庁芸術祭優秀賞受賞。倚羅座舞踏公演2023年『瑠璃坏るりのつき』、2024年『真珠と斧』（於・UrBANGUILD）を、今貂子と舞踏手の村上璃子との共同振付作品として上演。 日本の芸能の源流に見られる「たまふり(命の活性化)の力」に支えられたアバンギャルドな舞踏の探求を通じ、独自の境地を開拓。舞踏に新しい命を吹き込むべく、京都を拠点に活動を展開している。

Butoh Company KIRAZA
In 2000, a butoh dancer and a former member of Byakkosha(白虎社) ,IMA Tenko founded the butoh company KIRAZA, based on her butoh workshop. In 2005, the company toured Europe with success in Spain, France, and Germany. In 2007-16, they held the annual performance series “Imouto-no Chikara(妹の力, the power of sisters)” at the Gojo raku-en kabu-renjo(五條楽園歌舞練場, the wooden theater for Japanese traditional performing arts). In 2016, IMA helped establish the KYOTO BUTOH KAN(京都舞踏館). In 2020, IMA received the Excellence Award for her butoh performance “Diamond” at the 75th National Arts Festival in 2020, as the first dancer in the field of butoh. In 2023 and 2024, IMA and KIRAZA member MURAKAMI Riko co-produced and performed in “Goblet of Lapiz Lazuli” (2023) and “Pearl and Axe” (2024) at UrBANGUILD. Through their exploration of avant-garde butoh supported by the “power of tamafuri (activation of life)” found in the origins of Japanese performing arts, they are breaking new ground of their own. The company is based in Kyoto, Japan, to breathe new life into butoh.

鳴海姫子 Himeko Narumi
北海道出身、京都在住の舞踏ダンサー。 踊りと旅とまつりを愛し、国内外のフェスを踊り歩いて、いつの間にやら20数年。 様々な音楽家との即興セッションの他、 近年は 『姫子舞踏絵巻』としてソロ作品や舞踊劇の創作なども手がけている。

Himeko Narumi A Butoh dancer born in Hokkaido and currently based in Kyoto. She has been dancing at festivals both in Japan and internationally for over two decades. Along with her improvisation sessions with various musicians, she has recently been creating solo works and dance theater pieces under the name “Himeko Butoh Picture Scroll” (Himeko Butoh Emaki).
