舞踏家、振付家、今貂子舞踏研究所/舞踏カンパニー倚羅座主宰。 ’80年白虎社創立に参加。海外及び国内公演に出演、また衣裳デザイン製作を担当。‘94年解散により独立。’99年舞踏ワークショップ開始。2000年ワークショップを母胎に舞踏カンパニー倚羅座結成。’05年ヨーロッパ公演ツアー（スペイン、フランス、ドイツ）をお行ない、各地で成功をおさめる。’07⁻’16年旧五條楽園歌舞練場にて連続公演。’16年-‘20年KYOTO舞踏館「秘色」上演。世界68か国からの観客を迎え、コロナにより休館になるまで378回のロングラン公演を行う。‘19年還暦記念「闇の艶」公演（先斗町歌舞練場）。’20年今貂子舞踏公演「金剛石-Diamond-」公演（UrBANGUILD　Kyoto）にて、令和2年度文化庁芸術祭優秀賞受賞。以降’21年「愛ノ嵐」、’22年「彗星」を上演しコロナ三部作として結実。‘24年倚羅座舞踏公演「瑠璃坏（るりのつき）」、‘24年倚羅座舞踏公演「真珠と斧」。‘25年倚羅座舞踏公演「珊瑚の血」開催。’25年10月、マドリッドでのSUMAフラメンコフェスティバル、ベゴニャ・カストロ作品「ロルカへの3つの俳句」にゲスト出演。’21年より、「おんなのぼくしさん」-飯名尚人・今貂子共同作品-に取り組む。また、今貂子舞踏研究所では、国内外のワークショップ参加者を迎え、後進の育成を行う。 日本の芸能の源流にみられる「たまふり（命の活性化）」の力に支えられたアバンギャルドな舞踏の探求を通じ、独自の境地を開拓。 撮影:三村博史

Ima Tenko Butoh Dancer, Choreographer Artistic Director of Butoh Company KIRAZA and Director of Ima Tenko Butoh Studio. From 1980 to 1994, Tenko was a core member of BYAKKO-SHA―one of the most acclaimed Butoh groups, performing with distinct recognition both abroad and locally. She also designed and produced costumes for the company. In 2000, she created the Butoh Company KIRAZA in Kyoto. From 2007 to 2016, she performed constantly in Gojo Rakuen Kaburenjo, a historical theater in Kyoto. In 2016, she began a long-run performance of her solo work ‘HISOKU’ at the Kyoto Butoh Kan Theater, a theatre specializing in Butoh, and she welcomed audiences from 68 countries around the world until the theatre shut down in March 2020 due to the pandemic of COVID-19. In 2020, Tenko became the first Butoh dancer to win the Award of Excellence at the 75th edition of the National Arts Festival by the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan for her performance “Diamond” at UrBANGUILD. In 2025,she performed KIRAZA Butoh Performance“Coral Blood” at UrBANGUILD Kyoto. She explores and pushes the boundaries of her arts and herself in the avant-garde field of Butoh. Her arts are supported by the Shinto practice of Tamafuri, “reinvigorating the soul,” a practice seen at the heart of Japanese performing arts. As one of Japan’s leading butoh dancers, she uses Kyoto as a base to breathe new life and vigor into the field of Butoh.

2012年、舞踏カンパニー倚羅座に参加。『花軍』(2012)にて、舞踏手としてデビュー。以降、主要作品に出演。 『瑠璃坏』(2023)から始まる『真珠と斧』(2024)『珊瑚の血』(2025)のトリロジー作品で、今貂子と共同振付を務め、倚羅座の作品世界の深化に挑み続けている。 近年は、舞踏の方法論からフェミニズム、ジェンダー、クィアスタディ/ポリティクス等の領域を探索中。 他に、伊藤高志氏の実験映像作品「最後の天使(2014)」の出演(第61回オーバーハウゼン国際短編映画祭にて上映)や、オランダ人写真家Marco van Duyvendijk氏の写真作品の参加など、舞踏をベースにした活動を継続中。 Photo by Hiroshi Mimura

ニコ
クラリネット奏者。クラシックを学び、クレズマーやインプロビゼーションなど、さまざまな角度から自身の表現を探究している。 音楽ユニット「ニコらん」では、心の琴線に触れる旋律をもとに、エモーショナルで独自の音楽を奏でる。音そのものが歌となることを追求している。 近年は、ピアノのhicoとのデュオ、楽曲提供、ピアノ演奏を試みている。 また、今貂子ら舞踏家とのコラボレーションも数多く行い、舞踏カンパニー倚羅座の舞踏手としても舞台に立った。 photo by Tao Takashi

Butoh artist XUE is the founder and facilitator of the Singapore Butoh Collective, a community initiative committed to the cultivation and sustained longevity of butoh culture in Singapore. Their practice spans performance art, film, and underground contexts. Ongoing training continues under Vangeline (Vangeline Theater/New York Butoh Institute) and Emiko Agatsuma (AGAXART, Japan), complemented by self-initiated research trips to Japan. XUE is currently an Associate Artist at Dance Nucleus and a graduate of its Certificate Programme for Critical Practice in Contemporary Performance. Their work has been presented in the United States, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. In 2024, they completed *the centre trembles*, an eleven-hour butoh performance at the Singapore ArtScience Museum, and recently directed a movement piece at the Singapore National Gallery. XUE was also part of the organizing team and a guest performer at the Asia Butoh Gathering in the Philippines. Recently, they also curated a Butoh residency supported by the Goethe-Institut Singapur. As co-founder of Endless Return, a Singaporean rave series exploring rave-butoh formats, their work was awarded a T:>Works Per°Form Open Academy Fellowship in 2023. In Singapore, they currently teach butoh at Lasalle College of the Arts and the National University of Singapore, in addition to weekly classes at *SCAPE, a center for youths. Through performance, facilitation, and teaching, XUE continues to investigate butoh as an artistic discipline and radical praxis for a new generation of Singaporean artists.

Liz is an actor who likes to move. She graduated from the Intercultural Theatre Institute in 2016, moving to work onstage and on lens. Finding herself pursuing physicality as the doorway to expression, she was introduced to butoh and Odissi early in her education, and is pursuing long term training.

Sonia Kwek (Singapore Butoh Collective) / @soniakwek

Sonia is an interdisciplinary artist who works with performance, movement and the body to create. Often involving collaboration and transdisciplinary experimentation, she performs, dramaturges, directs, choreographs, facilitates and produces across varying spaces and mediums, including stage productions, site-specific responses, short films, performance-lectures, immersive installations, nightlife gigs, workshops, etc. Sonia’s work explores corporeal sensualities, deconstructs myths/archetypes and delves into the latent unseen to deal with questions about embodiment, gender, and perception. Informed by her Intercultural Theatre training and Butoh practice, Sonia seeks to shape time-space to centre the expression and experience of the intimate, visceral and erotic.

Sonia was first struck by Butoh at 18 through videos shared by her Theatre Studies teacher. This nudged her towards university studies in Australia, where she was able to train in Butoh regularly with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre. Since then (2010), a lifelong Butoh practice was seeded and she continually seeks out training. Notable Butoh artists she has taken workshops with include Dairakudakan, Sankai Juku, Koichi and Hiroko Tamano, Emiko Agatsuma, Frances Barbe, Vangeline, Sasa Cabalquinto. Sonia is proud to be part of the Singapore Butoh Collective, which she credits for reigniting her fire for Butoh more boldly. Recent Butoh performances include a solo at ‘Butoh Don’t Cry #6: Birthsong’ at Enclave Bar (Singapore), April 2025 and ‘Cermin Air’, a production choreographed by Agatsuma Emiko at Movement Lab (Yogyakarta), March 2024
